Snow Day Assignment 2/5/2014

We hope you are staying warm on these few days off! Hopefully you had a chance to check the blog for Tuesday's assignment. If you didn't, please go back and check the previous post to make sure you have taken care of everything on the list.

For Wednesday's assignment, we would like you to write the rough draft of your speech for our Presidents Celebration.

On notebook paper, write out everything you would like to say about your president during your speech. Write it out in full sentences and in paragraph form. You will want to have a draft ready to read or share with your teacher on Thursday. After you write it out, practice reading it out loud and time yourself to see that it fits within the time limits. Make sure you follow the requirements listed below to write out your speech.

Here are the requirements of the speech about your president:
 - Your speech should be between 30 seconds to one minute long.
 - Speeches should be informative but catchy. You want to keep your listeners interested.
 - Open with a quote, a question, or a funny statement about your president.
 - Your speech should include at least three things about your President's time in office and any other important information you would like to include about your president. You will want to organize your information chronologically (in time order). 

 - Make sure you write your speech in third person. You do not write as though you are the president, but you write it in the same way you wrote your paper, calling your president by his name and/or he. 

We will be sharing these speeches with parents at our celebration on Wednesday, February 12th and we will also record it to put on our LiveBinder portfolio. You will need to memorize your speech for the presentation, but we will make notecards when we get back to school to help you out.
