Due to conflicts with Holy Week, the Fifth Grade Show Case has been rescheduled for Tuesday, April 2. We apologize for needing to reschedule again, and we hope to see you there!
Middle School Transition Night
I want to invite you to our Middle School Transition Night on April 4. This will be an excellent opportunity to meet the middle school teachers, have an exposure to the middle school curriculum, listen to reflections on middle school students and to ask questions. For many students and parents, the years in middle school are some of the most amazing years in a person’s life. This evening will offer some insight into characteristics of adolescent behavior and development. The evening will begin with a brief presentation of the new 1:1 iPad initiative. We will meet in the third floor commons at 6 pm. I look forward to seeing you April 4.

Reading Reptile Lit. Fest.
St. Paul's students will be attending the Lit. Fest. at Rockhurst University on Friday, April 5th. For more information, please visit Mr. N.'s blog at http://www.spedsnerstheimer.blogspot.com/.
Exchange City
Students have been busy working within their business to prepare for our day at Exchange City. This week, groups focused on setting up a business budget, applying for a loan, and developing a marketing plan. We will wrap up our preparations next week.
Note: Students should be bringing home an Exchange City permission form tonight. We are required to bring a completed form for each student with us to Exchange City, so it is really important we have these turned in no later than Friday, April 5th. This form is separate from the lunch form they brought home earlier this week.
Academics
In language arts, we focused on technical writing, and students began composing an explanatory piece about something they know how to do well. For this writing piece, we are focusing on the writing trait of organization, and we are using google docs to complete the work. We will finish these pieces early next week, and then we will move on to our grammar unit over adjectives.
This week in reading, Mrs. Jones' students have read through chapter 21 of Holes by Louis Sachar. Mrs. Nash's students have read through chapter nine Jayhawker by Patricia Beatty. Students will be taking a test over Jayhawker on Wednesday, April 10th.

In social studies, students explored the first form of government in the United States, the Articles of Confederation. They analyzed the weaknesses of this government and learned about how it fell apart. Next week we will focus on the Constitution.
