Exchange City Elections
Exchange City elections were held today and the elected positions are below. Thanks to all students who took the extra initiative to run for an elected position. We are extremely proud of all the students who prepared posters and delivered speeches in order to campaign. This process of campaigning and voting for elected officials has given our students a fresh perspective on what their civic duties are as a citizen. Congratulations!

Exchange City Interviews: Help Needed!
Exchange City interviews are just a few days away and we need your help! As of right now we only have seven parents signed up on sign-up genius
to assist with interviews on Wednesday, March 6 from 8:40-10:30. In order to make things flow smoothly and not overwork our volunteers we could use about eight more parents. We'll be organizing the interview schedules this weekend so if you think you can join us next Wednesday please sign up on sign-up genius as soon as possible. The link is

In language arts, students have been typing Exchange City resumes and completing job applications. We will also be wrapping up our verb unit over the next week or two. Students received Wordly Wise 15. It will be due Wednesday, March 6 and the spelling test will be the same day. A LiveBinder has been created that reviews all vocabulary associated with our verbs unit and that includes links to games that allow you to practice skills related to this unit. This week in reading, Mrs. Jones' students began their next class novel, Holes by Louis Sachar. Mrs. Nash's students began Jayhawker by Patricia Beatty.

In social studies, students learned about the first battles of the Revolutionary War as well as one of the most important documents in U.S. history, the Declaration of Independence. The test over our current unit will be Friday, March 15th.
This week in science students began studying plants. We reviewed parts of a leaf and the process of photosynthesis as well as the jobs of roots and stems. We are now studying plant reproduction. Students are also investigating whether seed placement affects the direction of root growth. We will continue to observe seeds we planted and how their root structures develop over the next couple of weeks. Students also visited the science current event blog and posted their thoughts and reflections over recent scientific happenings.
