We hope you had a wonderful, relaxing Spring break!
When students return on Tuesday, March 20th, we will be busily preparing for our visit to Exchange City. Due to scheduling conflicts, we have been working closely with the staff at Exchange City to reschedule our visit. We were orginally scheduled to visit Tuesday, April 17th, but since standardized testing will be taking place that week we are working hard to reschedule in an effort to provide students with a consistent testing routine. Our tentative date is Monday, April 2nd and since, if we do visit that day, we only have two more weeks to prepare students we are conducting interviews this Thursday, March 22nd. We know this is extremely short notice and we apologize for any inconveniences it may cause, but if you are available and willing to interview students from 8:45-10:15 we would love your help. Each student will interview for three different jobs and we have found that having 16-20 parent volunteers makes the process run smoothly. Mrs. Graham has created a Sign Up Genius for us. Please sign up using this tool if you are available to interview students. We truly appreciate your help. This is a wondeful opportunity for the students and parents have really enjoyed being a part of this experience in the past.
Other Happenings
The next Social Studies test will be Tuesday, March 27 over the American Revolution. Students will be reviewing this week. They also have time lines and vocabulary terms they can review.
In Reading, Mrs. Nash's class is starting Jayhawker by Patricia Beatty. Mrs. Jones's class is reading Holes by Louis Sachar. The students will have a fourth quarter book report assignment in a few weeks.
This week in Science students will be starting a unit on space. We will do some review and cover new information as a whole class initially, and then students will be given time and guidelines for an in-class research project related to space. If a student wishes to retake the last science test they may do so Thursday, March 22nd at 7:15.
In Language Arts, students will be studying adjectives. Wordly Wise will resume next week and then will be put on hold for a few weeks while we prepare for the last WordMaster test of the year.
Be sure to check the "Upcoming Events" page. Also, we will post more information about our visit to Exchange City as we hear back from them.
