- Students have been working our putting together their final copies of their research paper on their President. They have also started preparing their speeches and tri-fold boards for our upcoming President's celebration. We have asked students to bring in a blank tri-fold by Monday, February 6. Final copies, speeches and tri-fold boards are due Monday, February 13.
- Students received their second set of Word Masters words this week and we have spent time studying each word as a class. The Word Masters test will be Wednesday, February 22.
- In science we reviewed the circulatory, respiratory, digestive and urinary systems. Students are completing an assessment project this Friday and Monday.
- Students in Mrs. Jones's class have continued reading Jayhawker by Patricia Beatty. Mrs. Nash's class is also still reading Small Steps: The Year I Got Polio by Peg Kehret.
- In social studies, students started learning about the causes of the American Revolution. This begins Unit 4 which will focus on the Revolution as well as the development of the United States of America.
- Valentine's Day is right around the corner! Students may purchase Valentines to give to all the students in their homeroom class on February 14. If they would like to also get Valentines for the other fifth grade class, we request that they get one for every student in the class. We will distribute class lists next week so students may address their Valentines in advance.

January 30th - February 3rd
Fifth grade has been buzzing with activities as we have continued through our President's unit and students have worked hard preparing for the Fifth Grade Music Showcase. Below are some of the highlights of the week. Be sure to check out the Upcoming Events page as well.
