A Busy Time of Year

This week students have been busy putting the final touches on their research papers and tri-fold boards in anticipation of sharing all of their hard work with you Friday, February 17th.  They also worked extremely hard preparing for the Fifth Grade Showcase.  Hopefully, your child brought home a letter Friday discussing all of the exciting events happening next week.  We generally just post upcoming events on the "Upcoming Events" page of this blog, but since there is so much taking place we felt it necessary to also send home a letter highlighting the happenings of the upcoming week.

Tuesday, February 14th
Join us for our class Valentine Parties at 2:30.  Since, your children will be middle schoolers next year, this will be their last classroom party.  Feel free to celebrate this milestone and Valentine's Day with us by dropping by during the party.  Students are asked to bring valentines for the students in their homeroom class, and are welcome to bring valentines for the other class if they wish.  They received class lists last week so they could address their valentines.

Thursday, February 16th
At 2:30 Thursday afternoon, the fifth grade boys will meet with Mr. N. and the fifth grade girls will meet with Mrs. Nash and Mrs. Jones to discuss growth and development.  They will watch a short film provided by Proctor and Gamble that will highlight some of the physical changes that they can expect during the next few years.  This is a very brief, introductory session.  As we noted in the letter that went home, St. Paul's Church does provide other classes that build upon this topic.  These classes are offered each spring, and though registration is closed for this year, this is always a resource you can consider in future years.

Friday, February 17th
Please join us at 2:45 in the North Multipurpose Room to celebrate The Presidents of The United States of America.  Students look forward to sharing their research and hard work with you!

The fifth graders are also staying busy reading class novels, preparing for the next WordMaster test which is Wednesday, February 22nd, studying health and nutrition in science, and learning about the American Revolution in social studies.
