February 13th - 17th

We had a busy and exciting week in fifth grade with several different activities going on.  Below are several of the highlights.
  • Thank you for coming to our President's Celebration on Friday!  We are so proud of the fifth graders for all the hard work they put in to preparing for the event.
  • Both fifth grade classes had enjoyable Valentine's Day parties on Tuesday afternoon! We appreciate all of the help from parents who coordinated and attended the parties.
  • Students turned in their final President's projects on Monday. Over the course of the week we prepared for Friday's celebration by practicing speeches.
  • We have continued to review for our next Word Masters test with several activities. For more review, students may use the link on the right to practice on the Quizlet website. The Word Masters test will be Wednesday, February 22.
  • In science students are now studying plants. They are also blogging about science related articles. You can read their discussions at www.ljonesspeds.edublogs.org.
  • In social studies, students finished learning about the French and Indian War. We also began studying the different political parties that existed at the time of the American Revolution.
  • Students in Mrs. Jones's class have continued reading Jayhawker by Patricia Beatty.  Mrs. Nash's class is also still reading Small Steps: The Year I Got Polio by Peg Kehret.
