We've worked hard and stayed busy as we began the second half of fourth quarter this week. Below are some of the highlights of the week as well as some important information about events coming up. Please be sure to check out our upcoming events page as well.

  • Spanish Market Day is Friday, May 4th.
Students must bring their display boards and products to sell on or before that day. They can leave things in Senora's room in the mornings. She can also refrigerate items for them. Students must have their presentations memorized by then since the display boards are only an aide in their presentation. Students do not need costumes.  Parents are invited to this event. It will start at 2:00 pm in the north MPR and it will finish by 3:15 at the latest.
Nos vemos el viernes! See you Friday!
    Sra. Meli
We started learning our third set Word Masters words this week.  Our Word Masters test will be Friday, May 4th. We will resume Wordly Wise next week.
  • Mrs. Nash's reading class has continued to read Jayhawker by Patricia Beatty and will complete it next week.  Mrs. Jones's reading class finished Holes by Louis Sachar and tested over the book.
  • Both reading classes will begin a Book Contract late next week to read their final book of the school year. This unit will allow them to choose some of the activities they will complete while they read. Each student will complete three required assignments and choose four other activities to finish from a list of options.
  • This week in science students studied fossil fuels and six alternative energy sources.  Next week we will learn about other resources and conservation laws.  The next science test will be May 14th and will cover Chapter 10. Students will recieve a study guide on Monday.
  • In social studies, students are working on an in-class group project. Students have four different project options: they can create a PowerPoint, an illustrated timeline, a historical diary, or a board game. They also selected their topic of study from a list of Unit 5 lessons.  Projects are due Tuesday, May 1st.  We will begin our study of the Civil War after the projects are finished.
  • Middle School Book Fair is Wednesday, May 2nd. Fifth graders are invited to purchase books for their summer reading assignment or for personal enjoyment. They may charge them to their school account or bring cash or check.
  • School Supplies for the 2012-2013 school year may be purchased online.
The packets are ordered through Innisbrook School Supplies and are priced at the school’s cost.  This opportunity is offered as a convenience for St. Paul’s families.  Parents are free to choose the supply pack or shop on their own.  Order dates:  4/16/12 - 5/4/12. There are two ways to place your order:
    1)  Order online at www.ordermypack.com , select Buy School Supplies, and enter our school number: 120688.  Pay with a credit card at checkout.  A convenience charge of $1.50 per pack will be added to all online orders.
    2)  Complete and return an order form to the school front desk.  Charges will be billed to your school account in August.
The order form and school supply lists are available on the St. Paul's website.  Go to speds website, select Current Parents & Students, Inside St. Paul's, School Supplies.  If you are unable to print what you need, please contact Linda van Thullenar and she will send them to you. All supply packets will be delivered directly to school and distributed to students at Open House on Wednesday, August 15.
