We hope you had a fabulous Christmas break and that your new year is off to a great start! We look forward to seeing the students on Tuesday, January 3rd! There are two weeks remaining in the second quarter and they will be full of lots of learning and activities. We kicked off our Presdents' Unit right before Christmas break and this week students will get started learning about their specific president. Students will select their president on Tuesday, January 3rd and we will end our school day with a visit from Mr. Harry S. Truman. We will spend the remainder of the week finding sources and making source cards. Students will be bringing home a packet that explains the research project in more detail.
In social studies students will continue studying the 13 colonies, and in science students will wrap up their unit on plant and animal cells.
Mrs. Nash's students will be watching the movie version of Shiloh this week and then beginning their next class novel, Small Steps:The Year I Got Polio by Peg Kehret. Mrs. Jones's class will begin reading Jayhawker by Patricia Beatty.
The fifth grade students will start shadowing with the sixth graders beginning Wednesday, January 4th. They will attend middle school chapel and a few middle school classes. Students will shadow Monday through Thursday through the month of January.
