October 10th - October 14th

It's hard to believe there's only one week left in first quarter!  Students have had another busy and productive week in fifth grade.  The week ended with lots of fun as we celebrated fitness and our buddies in the second annual St. Paul's Buddy Run.  Below are some specifics about what's happening in fifth grade.
  •  Students created a documentary about who really discovered America in social studies.
  • Students presented their documentaries in class on Friday.
  • In science students took a test over the science process skills and metric conversion.
  • Students have begun working on their Science Expo projects.  They should be bringing home a packet of information to share.  The lab report and display board will be completed at school, but students will be responsible for gathering materials and conducting the experiment at home.
  • In language arts students took a test over unit one.  We are now studying nouns and working on a creative writing story.
  • Miss Iserman's class is finishing Holes and completing their reading response journals.  Mrs. Jones's class is reading in small groups with students either reading Small Steps:The Year I got Polio or When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit.
